Rams’ Jada Dickens signs with Ottawa University Arizona beach volleyball
Gavilan College women's volleyball standout Jada Dickens has signed a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic career at Ottawa University Arizona (OUAZ).
Dickens, who starred on the indoor court and the sand for the Rams over the past two years, will compete for the Ottawa Spirit women's beach volleyball team.
Ottawa competes at the NAIA level and recently wrapped up an impressive beach volleyball season this spring. The Spirit, under the direction of head coach Viri Serrano, advanced to the NAIA National Championships and ultimately earned a second-place National runner-up finish.
Dickens, originally out of Hollister High School, was a two-year All-Coast Conference South Division selection on the women's volleyball team for Gavilan. On the sand, Dickens consistently competed as a member of the Rams' No. 1 pairs squad.
She joins Emiliana Bejarano and Izzy Cline from the women's basketball team as Rams student-athletes to sign with four-year universities this week. Gavilan Director of Athletics and Kinesiology Jamie Adams is proud of the trio's accomplishments.
"Watching Izzy, Millie, and Jada earn the opportunity to continue their academic and athletic careers at four-year universities is exactly what Gavilan Athletics is all about," Adams said. "These three have represented our department with tremendous pride, work ethic, and leadership, and we could not be more excited to see what they accomplish at the next level. They have each left a lasting impact on our program and our campus, and we will always be proud to call them Rams."
