Rams look towards postseason after final matches vs. De Anza, San Mateo

GILROY – The Gavilan College women's beach volleyball team closed out its regular-season schedule with a pair of losses, falling 5-0 to De Anza College and 3-0 to College of San Mateo on Friday afternoon at home.

With just six players on its 2024 team roster, the Rams entered the De Anza match, as well as most others this season, already facing a 2-0 deficit. Despite the final team results, Gavilan's three pairs squads battled focusing on its own matches.

New head coach Erica Chapa Slayday and her Rams will now turn their attention to the postseason, starting with the Coast Conference Pairs Championships set for April 26 at Cabrillo Beach. The three Rams' duos will look to advance to the Northern California Regional Championships on May 3 and the 3C2A State Championships on May 10-11 at West Valley College.

Slayday has been mixing her matchups throughout the season looking for the right combination and has recently used the lineup of Adrianna DeMario and Katia Vaillancourt at No. 1. Keira Tryforos has been a regular at No. 2 with either Alyssa Newman or Amanda Catanzaro and Saribet Bracamontes Ochoa holding down one of the No. 3 spots.

The squad of Newman and Bracamontes Ochoa picked up the team's lone wins this season, taking both their No. 3 matches on April 5 against Monterey Peninsula College and Hartnell College at home.
