Hernandez signs with Grace Christian University
GILROY – Gavilan College men's soccer standout Bryan Hernandez has signed a letter of intent with Grace Christian University to continue his academic and athletic career. Hernandez made it official at a signing ceremony at the Grace Christian campus in Grand Rapids, Michigan earlier this month.
Hernandez, a Gilroy High School alum, recently closed out his sophomore season for the Rams and earned second-team All-Coast Conference North Division honors from the defender position.
For Gavilan first-year head coach Ivan Bastidas, Hernandez marks the first of hopefully many future transfers from his Rams' men's soccer program. He was excited for the announcement.
"We are incredibly proud of Bryan Hernandez for his unwavering dedication to both his academic pursuits and athletic development, which has paved the way for his exciting move to Grace Christian University at the four-year level," Bastidas said. "His hard work and determination set the standard for future student-athletes in our program and serves as an inspiration to work hard and achieve great things."
Hernandez was thankful for his time at Gavilan and grateful for those that made an impact on his journey.
"Gavilan College provided me with an incredible experience," said Hernandez. "I was fortunate to have an amazing support system, including my athletic counselor, Darlene, who helped create a clear path for my success. Gavilan gave me all the tools I needed to thrive at the community college level.
"I also had the privilege of working with some phenomenal coaches who not only supported me but also made my time in Gavilan soccer enjoyable and rewarding."
Hernadez will take his talents to Grace Christian to compete for head coach Dustin Buchanan. The Tigers are a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA).
Grace Christian recently wrapped up the 2024 fall season with an 11-8-3 overall record and went 4-1-3 in conference play. The Tigers captured their third straight regional championship and advanced to the NCCAA National Tournament.
