Rams drop season opener to Siskiyous

GILROY – The 2025 Gavilan College football season got off to a rough start as the Rams suffered a 49-16 loss to visiting College of the Siskiyous on Saturday at the Garcia-Elder Sports Complex.

Gavilan hung with Siskiyous early and was down 14-3 at halftime. But a 21-point outburst by the Eagles in the third quarter put the game out of reach.

Sophomore running back Houstyn Lee-Perry had a solid all-around game. He totaled 78 yards rushing on 13 carries and also had 5 catches out of the back field for 56 yards.

Quarterback Ethan Chrisman completed 11 of 22 passes for 97 yards in his Gavilan debut.

Ayjyan Johnson and Tyler Hughes both ran in for touchdowns and Luis Sanchez connected on an 11-yard field goal to round out the Rams' scoring.

On defense, Jamie Gonzales led with 11 total tackles while Israel Chavez-Strand had 10 tackles and a sack. Dei'Maujae Moore added an interception to go along with 9 tackles.

New Gavilan head coach Joffre Longoria will look to earn his first career win next Saturday (Sep. 6) when the Rams travel to Feather River College in Quincy for a 1 p.m. non-conference game.
