4 Rams honored for their hard work

The Gavilan College Athletic Department and Athletic Director Jamie Adams are proud to announce Sarah Polanco, Jay Trejo, Jason Briones and Jailen Daniel-Dalton as the Student-Athletes of the month for November.

Polanco is a sophomore middle hitter on the volleyball team from Christopher high. She led the team in hitting percentage for the month of November hitting .254 with 24 kills in the five matches played. In the classroom she maintained her current GPA which is 3.79 while taking 13 units. 

Trejo is a freshman guard on the women's basketball team and a graduate of San Benito high. She has had a phenomenal month of play. She had a triple double with 24 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists on November 18th vs Sac City. She scored in double digits every game during the month.

Briones is a sophomore middle linebacker for the football team.  The West Toronto Prep (Canada) graduate in the three games in November led the team in tackles with 24. He is a Team Captain and was selected All Conference.

Daniel-Dalton is a sophomore forward on the men's basketball team. The Mountain View (Baton Rouge, LA) graduate and "leader on and off the floor" led the Rams to a 5-2 record while averaging 20 points and 11 rebounds per game.

Since 2008, the Rams Athletic Department has recognized and honored its student-athletes for their accomplishments on and off the field. During each month of play, a Ram from each program that is in season will be named student-athlete of the month. It is from this list of distinguished student-athletes, that the nominees for Student-Athlete of the Year will be selected from. Each student-athlete of the month will be honored with a certificate of recognition as well as having their names added to a perpetual plaque that will be proudly displayed in the foyer of the Bud & Jean Ottmar Memorial Gymnasium.
