Success in the Classroom
Unable to pick up a ball, shoot a basket or even get together with teammates the student-athletes of Gavilan College have been spending more time on being a student and their hard work has paid of as evident of the report on the fall grades.
Over 100 academic awards were earned this past fall. The awards fall into four categories: Honor Roll(student-athletes are defined as having successfully completed at least 12 units and earning an overall grade point average of 3.0 or better after their first semester at Gavilan), Scholar-Athlete (completed at least two semesters at Gavilan and maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better while successfully completing at least 12 units), Dean's Scholars (earning a 3.0 or higher grade point average during any semester successfully completing at least 12 graded units) and President's Scholars (as earning a 3.5 or higher grade point average during any semester successfully completing at least 15 graded units). 29 student-athletes earned Honor Roll, 37 Scholar Athlete, 32 were named to the Dean's list and 6 President's Scholar.
